This book contains not only an unique pictorial record of life within the University of Oxford but also a concise introduction to the university. It covers such diverse topics as: college balls, formal dinners in college halls, boat races and other sports events, punting, student societies, undergraduate lectures and tutorials, matriculation and degree ceremonies, academic research, academic dress and May Morning celebrations; without neglecting the university's magnificent architecture and gardens.

The author first became interested in photography during his student days at Oxford. He holds a doctorate from the university for several significant contributions to extragalactic astronomy and cosmology (which include new methods for measuring distances to other galaxies), and has published several scientific papers on astronomical topics.
